Description

Pilocar eye drop 5 ml is a prescription medicine used to treat and manage acute angle-closure glaucoma. Glaucoma is an eye disorder that causes damage to the optic nerve, which is crucial for eyesight. This damage occurs due to abnormally high pressure in the eye. The ophthalmic preparation contains the active ingredient Pilocarpine, which is approved as an agent to reduce this intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma cases. This prevents complications of glaucoma, such as eyesight loss and improves vision. Pilocarpine can be used alone or with eye drops. It also affects muscles in the eye, causing the pupil to get smaller.

Additional information

How To Use

Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your ophthalmologist. If you use soft contact lenses, remove them before using the medicine. While using the ophthalmic solution, be sure not to touch the dropper to any surface as it may contaminate the eye drops. Wash your hands well before use. Tilt your head back and pull your lower eyelid to create a pocket. Squeeze the bottle to release one to two drops as your ophthalmologist directs. Blink a few times. If you think you missed the drop, insert another drop.

Precautions

Do not use Pilocar eye drops if allergic to Pilocarpine or other ingredients in the ophthalmic solution. You should avoid using the eye drops if you suffer from inflammation of the coloured part of the eye. Avoid using it if you have eye disorders, such as narrow-angle or secondary glaucoma. Do not use this ophthalmic solution if you are wearing soft contact lenses.

For use in children, the eye drop is administered at the lowest available dose at the beginning of the treatment for children under 18. Let your ophthalmologist know if you are using any other ophthalmic preparation you obtained without a prescription. Certain medicines can interfere with your treatment.

Let your ophthalmologist know if you are already using antihistamines, anticholinergics, antiparkinsonian agents, antidepressants, antidepressants, medicines for mental disorders, hypertensive agents, and phenothiazines to treat mental disorders. The eye drop may cause blurred vision. It can cause problems in adapting to the dark. Avoid driving or using machinery in poor light.
