Suminat 100 mg is a prescription medicine for patients with acute migraine headaches with or without aura in adults. It helps to relieve the symptoms of migraine and prevents the attack from becoming worse. The medicine contains the active ingredient Sumatriptan, which belongs to the class of drugs known as Triptans. One of the significant reasons for migraines symptoms could be the temporary widening of blood vessels in the head. Triptans are known to reduce the widening of these blood vessels. This, in turn, relieves the symptoms of a migraine attack such as throbbing pain in the head, the feeling of being sick, and sensitivity to light and sound. Note- The medicine will not prevent or decrease the number of migraine episodes. Also, it is still not known whether this antimigraine drug is safe and effective to treat cluster headaches. Patients under 18 years of age must discuss the safety and effectiveness of medicine before taking it.
| How To Use | It would be best if you take Suminat 100 mg under the supervision of a doctor. Take the tablets exactly as your doctor tells you to. Your doctor may change your dose according to your condition. Do not make any changes in your dosing schedule without speaking with your doctor. Take the tablet with a glass of water. If you do not get relief after taking the first tablet, do not consume the next dose without discussing with your doctor. If your headache returns, you may be asked to take a second tablet two hours after the first tablet. Do not take more than two tablets in 24 hours. Taking too much can increase your risk of side effects. This antimigraine drug is not recommended for children under 18 years old and people aged over 65. |

| Precautions | Do not use Suminat 100 mg, if you are allergic to Sumatriptan, if you have a blood vessel disorder, diabetes, obesity, breathing problems, seizures, and liver problems. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are consuming other medications. Tell your doctor before taking Sumatriptan tablets if you are allergic to antibiotics called sulphonamides, or anti-depressants. Do not take this medicine if you have a heart problem, circulation problem in your legs, or high blood pressure. Take special care if you are a heavy smoker, use nicotine replacement therapy, a managed over 40, or a woman who has been through the menopause. |

A serious side effect due to Sumatriptan usage is rare. However, few people may experience some serious side effects like blue colored nails, coldness in hand or feet, hearing changes, seizures, or mood changes. This medication may increase the level of serotonin in the body and rarely cause a serious condition called serotonin syndrome or toxicity. The risk of this happening increases if you take other drugs that increase serotonin.
Call your doctor right away if you get any serious side effect due to this medication. Some of the common side effects of Sumatriptan are flushing, tingling sensation, numbness, prickling, warm feeling, chest/jaw/neck tightness, weakness, drowsiness, or giddiness.
If any of these conditions persist or deteriorate, get immediate medical attention.
